Review: An American Terror (2014)

3virew; An American Terror (2014)

By William Pattison

This time I got a morality urban horror story about friends that want to show it to the socials at their school dance.

A group of friends hatch a plan to get revenge on the bullies who have been tormenting them. In doing so, they stumble upon an underground torture chamber filled with unspeakable horrors. Trapped by a madman, they are used to fulfill his demented, bloody fantasies one at a time. Their only hope for survival is to fight back and find a way to escape the killer's bloody grip.

I love films like this that include societal commentary and the horror of what happens when people push other people too hard.

This film tells the.story of Josh And Sammy, played byGramm Edmonds andTaylor Hulet. It is the part of Josh that really makes the film because he starts going through a redemption arch and actually become an unwilling hero when he has to protect a social girl namedYadha who is played by Louise McDonald, he and Sammy kidnap and take to their sadistic “mentor” The Plague Doctor,  brilliantly creepy by Brian Thompson.

But it is when Josh turns on Sammy and the Plague Doctor  that this film actually gets good. Sammy decides that he is still going to earn glory by poison gassing all the socials and school official at the dance. This is when Josh must either talk Sammy out of doing his suicide mission pr stop him anyway he can.

This film is excellently done because in fact there aren’t any innocent people in the story. They are all tainted and guilty, including Josh and Tasha.

The director was a real fan of Rob Zombie’s Firefly Trilogy and wanted to make this film more realistic with characters that weren’t either good or evil because real people are a bit of both. I say he was successful in this and this film NSDTY GOOD!!!

Keep on Creepin’ , Horror Bob’s Blog…
