Deliver Us from the Devil aka Deliver Us from Evil (2014)
By William Pattison
This time I got a demonic mystery that will blow your mind…
In New York, Police Officer Ralph Sarchie and his partner
Butler investigate a series of bizarre crimes in Bronx: the death of a baby in
an alley: the beating of the wife of the former soldier Jimmy by him; and the
case of a mother, Jane Crenna, who has thrown her two year old son in the
enclosure of the lions in the zoo. While investigating the last case with
Butler, Sarchie sees a weird man painting the wall of the lion's enclosure but
he flees. Soon the man is identified, Mick Santino, and Sarchie learns that
Santino and Jimmy belonged to the same platoon in Iraq. The investigation
affects the private life of Sarchie and his relationship with his wife Jennifer
"Jen" and his daughter Christina. Sarchie, who is a Catholic that
lost his faith, is contacted by the unconventional Father Mendoza that explains
to him that he is dealing with demonic forces and Santini and Jane are
possessed by demons. The skeptic Sarchie does not believe in the father in the
beginning, but when his family is jeopardized by Santino, he teams-up with the
priest to exorcise Santino and save his beloved family.
This is a real complex plot that is packed with good
characterization. Eric Bana and Edgar Ramirez are brilliant as Detective
Sarchie and Father Mendoza. This film is an outstanding, atmospheric, cop drama,
mystery, and one of the best exorcist films I’ve ever seen. I’m telling you the exorcism scene was crazy as
shit. It looked like what Clive Barker would have envisioned if he ever did an
exorcism in one of his movies. I’m
talking forget The Exorcist or Emily Rose. This is the next level and it
was brutal.
On top of that there is a scene where a fish tank bubbles
and possessed little fish rip an angel fish to pieces. And also we get a mummified
crucified cat displayed on a wall. And, a mother feeding her baby to a lion.
What more can I say???
To put it simple this film is not just AWESOMETACULAR
it’s ATOMIC AWESOMETACULAR!!! Be ready
to be blown away.
You can…I mean you MUST see it on Tubi TV!!!
