Review: Site 13 (2023)
By William Pattison
This time I got another Lovecraftian horror film…
SITE 13 is a Cosmic Horror film. When Dr. Nathan Marsh
awakens from a catatonic state in a mental institution, he must relive his last
expedition by watching tapes from the site visit, only to discover he's
unleashed an unstoppable horror.
His film amazingly managed to capture the creepy feeling of Lovecraft’s
writings on a shoestring budget, which seems to be the best way to do movies
either based or inspired by Lovecraft. I loved the long exposition scenes,
which are the hallmarks of good Lovecraftian films. I also enjoyed the cheap CGI
Old One, which added that low budget charm to this piece.
In conclusion I have to say that though this film is far
from AWESOMETACULAR it is a good film that you don’t need alcohol or drugs to enjoy, so be happy
with that. You can see this film on Tubi TV…
